Scrambler Maries' is a family owned restaurant concept open from 6:30am to 3:00pm every day. It was begun in 1990 by Shain and Phil Buerk of Toledo, Ohio at it's original location which continues to operate today on Secor Road in Toledo. Because it is a family business most of the Buerk family has been involved in the operation at some time and several continue now so many years later. Even Phil's wife and Shain's Mom "Marie" whose real name is Deby Marie continues to hostess in the restaurants. The Recepies for the original menu which remains relatively unchanged, came form Phil's background in the food industry as a multiple unit Wendy's franchisee, Shains experience in the breakfast business, and advice and suggestions from all of the family whose names the menu carries.

As the years passed and the best breakfast in town gained popularity Scrambler Maries' opened locations to serve the Maumee and Findlay Ohio markets. When the plan to open our first store in Columbus, Ohio took shape it became clear that a new name which could better define our breakfast and lunch only concept would be needed. A contest to find that name was formed and the Columbus Cafe Marie Restaurants were named -- Scramblers! Now we have combined these two names to form Scrambler Marie's. Same great food and service, same hours and menu, just a clearer catchier name for what we do.

Inspired by customer response, new Scrambler Maries' Toledo locations were opened in Perrysburg, Temperance, Sylvania and Oregon; and in Powell, near Columbus, another Scrambler Marie's. Don't worry, we're not done yet. We have plans to open new stores every year and maybe one even closer to you.

Through the years the same basic ideals have remained the same. We serve a unique breakfast with fresh ingredients and friendly service. We shred our own cheeses and crack eggs right from the shell every day. We make our own pancake batter, salsa and chicken salad the old fashioned way -- from scratch. All of these things are time consuming and expensive but they help give our food that flavor you just cant get anywhere else.

With the base of unwavering family support; loyal, hardworking staff; and fantastic menu choices we are confident that Scrambler Maries' will continue to grow for years to come.

Who is Marie? The name comes from a long family tradition. Original Deby Marie (Phil's wife) is still active in the operation and has proudly passed the name down through her children and grandchildren.

Is there really an Uncle Moose?
Yes, all the names you see on the menu are relatives of the Buerk family. Many are part of the operation today. You may see one of them bussing your table or serving your food.

Will you be opening a store even closer to where I live?
With six stores in the Toledo area, one in Findlay, and soon to be three in Columbus, we are always looking for opportunities and for great restaurant locations.

Why are you only open from 6:30am to 3:00pm?
There are three reasons: First, operational efficiency of one shift of staff every day ensures maximum productivity and fresh, cheerful service. Secondly, there are lifestyle benefits. Being able to be home in time for dinner helps us keep our great attitude and helps us attract the sharpest staff available. Finally, because we concentrate on ONLY what we do BEST (breakfast and lunch), we proudly say, "our breakfast is so good, we can leave dinner to someone else."
